by Paul Coopertags: Abortion, health care, parents rights, public schools, Seattle.

I thought our government didn’t fund abortions? I guess they don’t. They just tell students to have abortions and counsel them to not tell their parents, ship them off to an abortion clinic, and make sure they’re back in time before the school day is out. That has recently happened and appears to be the normal plan of action for pregnant girls at at least one high school in Seattle, Washington.

The names have not been released, but a mother in Seattle is rightly furious to find out that her young daughter was given abortion assistance by the local public high school. The 15 year old daughter went to the Ballard High School’s health center to telling them she thought she was pregnant. The health center confirmed her pregnancy and then gave the girl options which included the option to abort the baby.

The mother claims the workers told the student that if she told her mom she was going through with the abortion that the mom would be the one who would have to pay for it. But, if the girl kept it from her parents then she could get a free abortion. Basically, they were advertising free abortions while attempting to keep everything a secret from the mother.

The school then called a cab for the young girl to send her off all by herself to an abortion clinic. I can’t imagine what that 15 year old was thinking as she rode in the back of that cab with so many thoughts and pressures running through her mind. She was left alone with the task of going to a clinic where they would kill the life inside of her. And I thought pro-choice people were supposed to care for women and young girls.

Washington state is one of thirteen states with no parental consent or even parental notification laws. Any girl at any age can get an abortion without their parents ever having to know. And at least at one public school in Seattle, they will help you do it. In fact, the school says sending students in cabs to clinics is a normal occurrence. However, the school refuses to fess up to how many students they’ve sent off to abortions in the past. Obviously this heartless act has been done before.

“We had no idea this was being facilitated on campus. They just told her that if she concealed it from her family, that it would be free of charge and no financial responsibility…Makes me feel like my rights were completely stripped away” – Mother of teen girl

Parents had signed health forms for what they believed were for emergency reasons for when the parents could not be reached. However, the school uses them as permission for counseling teens into abortions without telling the parents. Why would anyone with a sane mind think this is a good idea?

If you look at the school’s health center site it says:

Teens can be seen for confidential family planning services(at any age), STD testing(if over age 14), and mental health counseling(if over age 13) without parental consent. Consent may be required for other services, and forms are available at the Teen Health Center. – Ballard Teen Health Center

What “other service” would parental consent be required for that are bigger than having an abortion? I can’t think of any.

With abortion and government health care being in the spotlight as of late, this is a sad reminder of what our tax dollars will be used for. Here is a government funded high school counseling a young girl to have a free, secret abortion. What’s next? I’m not sure I want to know.
